The Rainbow Fish
In a deep blue sea there lived a fish. Not just an ordinary fish, but
the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. His scales were every shade of
blue and green and purple, with sparkling silver scales among them.
The other fish were amazed at his beauty. They called him Rainbow
Fish, and they wanted to play with him. But the rainbow fish would just glide
past, proud and silent, letting his scales shimmer.
One day, a little blue fish asked the Rainbow fish to give him a shiny
scale, but the rainbow fish refused. The little fish was shocked and swam
away.
The little fish told his friends. Then they didn't want to play with him
anymore. No one admired him. The rainbow fish become lonely, so he visited
the wise octopus who lived in a cave behind the coral reef. The octopus gave
the rainbow fish some advice. He suggestted to the rainbow fish that he should
share the glittering scales with his friends. At first rainbow fish didn't want to,
but finally he did.
The Rainbow Fish shared his scales left and right. Then a peculiar feeling
came over him. The more he gave away, the more delighted he became. When
the water around him filled with glimmering scales, he at last felt at home among
the other fish.
